I was able to shave a good five shots off my average score recently, and the wonderful thing about it is that I revised nothing about my actual game but only my state of mind towards the round. After struggling for a little while now scoring between 90 and 95 and hitting a serious plateau I was becoming seriously fed up as no matter what I attempted to change about my game I just could not go lower. I even thought learning golf was so difficult until I decided to gave up.
Right after shooting a score similar to this for about the 5th time I was left thinking about the round and I discovered something so simple but I had never had the thought before, that I can basically manage the round to cut out the double bogies. It was the simplest thing and yet I had never thought about it, the issue was that facing demanding shots around the course I would begin to feel like Tiger Woods and try to put the ball 3 feet away from the hole. That is the golf tips which I want to share here.
My theory was that if this worked once out of ten it will look magnificent and that would make all the subsequent duffs worthwhile. Anyway now that I am sick and tired of shooting nineties I made up my mind that all the Tiger shots would have to take a back seat and I am going to have to start playing smart.
All I needed to do was leave my ego back in the bag and leaving a 10-15 meters putt for birdie, this way the most severe I can do is a bogey. If I had tried to play the flop shot I would have ended up in the bunker, be lucky to get out within 15 meters of the hole and at most get a double leaving the whole ready to strike my next drive. Playing safe and keeping my cool I would save at least one shot quite possibly two and leave the complete feeling average to good about playing the next hole.
